Electric Generator Cleaning and Maintance

Description

The Electric Generator Cleaning and Maintenance project on the tanker focused on restoring the generator’s reliability and ensuring stable performance under operational load. The work began with a full external and internal cleaning, removing accumulated dust, oil residues, and moisture that had built up during long periods of continuous service. All ventilation paths, cooling ducts, and terminal boxes were cleaned to improve airflow and prevent overheating. Electrical connections were inspected, tightened, and treated to eliminate corrosion and ensure proper conductivity throughout the system.

Following the cleaning phase, the generator underwent a detailed maintenance procedure. Insulation resistance was checked, moving parts were lubricated where required, and worn consumables were replaced to restore optimal mechanical and electrical integrity. The alternator, AVR connections, and protective components were also inspected to confirm stable voltage regulation and safe operation. After reassembly and testing, the generator operated smoothly, demonstrating improved efficiency, reduced vibration, and reliable performance for the vessel’s power needs.
