The SELCO M2000 is a highly versatile and robust engine control unit engineered to automate, monitor, and protect industrial combustion engines in the most demanding environments. Whether for marine generator sets, emergency power systems, or land-based industrial plants, the M2000 ensures reliable operation by combining control logic with dedicated protection functions.
Integrated Engine Control
The M2000 automates the entire engine start and stop sequence. It accepts a start signal either from a front-panel button or an external remote contact. The unit can be configured to perform multiple start attempts (up to 6 attempts) with adjustable crank and rest periods. It detects a successful start via a signal from an external tacho relay or directly from a magnetic pick-up, disengaging the starter at approximately 33% of nominal speed. A configurable stop delay allows for generator circuit breaker trip and engine cool-down before final shutdown.
Comprehensive Engine Protection
While running, the M2000 continuously surveys critical engine parameters to prevent damage. It features 9 configurable inputs that can be set as either shutdown or alarm channels. These typically monitor:
The unit includes a valuable circuit check (cable monitoring) feature for sensor inputs, which provides a special indication if a sensor wire breaks, ensuring fail-safe operation.
Clear Indication and Communication
The front panel features bright, dual-color LEDs for each of the 10 indicating channels, with windows for custom alarm identification labels. A large, clear legend card can be printed and inserted behind the front plate. For system integration, the M2000 includes an RS485 interface with MODBUS RTU protocol, allowing seamless communication with HMIs, PLCs, and SCADA systems for remote monitoring and control. An RS232 interface is also available for easy PC-based configuration using SELCO’s software.
Rugged Design for Harsh Conditions
Built to withstand harsh marine and industrial environments, the M2000 features a compact, flush-mounting design (144x144mm) with a depth of only 35mm. It operates on a wide 12-24V DC supply and is protected against vibration, humidity, and temperature extremes. Every unit undergoes a 50-hour burn-in test before shipment to ensure the highest reliability. It is type-approved by all major marine classification societies.
