Kangrim Composite/Aux Boiler – Full Restoration & Operational Recovery

Description

Our specialized technical team recently completed a full restoration of a Kangrim Composite/Aux Boiler that had been found in a severely compromised operational condition. Upon inspection, the system presented multiple unsafe modifications, faulty wiring, and several failed components, all of which rendered the boiler inoperative and posed significant safety concerns for onboard operations. Restoring such a critical system required a structured, methodical approach and deep familiarity with Kangrim boiler architecture.

The overhaul began with the replacement of all damaged control components within the main panel, as well as the external field devices that were no longer functioning correctly. A new SDC36 controller was installed and configured to re‑establish stable steam pressure control, ensuring that the boiler could once again regulate its operating parameters with accuracy. In parallel, the flame scanners (Siemens LFS1.11A2) and their detection relays were replaced to restore reliable ignition monitoring and safety interlocking — essential elements for safe burner operation.

Our technicians proceeded with a complete service of the burner system, including inspection and cleaning of the oil gun assembly, verification of solenoid valve operation, and restoration of proper fuel and air delivery. Each subsystem was tested individually before integrating the components back into the full boiler sequence. This step‑by‑step approach ensured that every part of the system responded correctly and safely before moving to full operational testing.

The restoration concluded with extensive manual and automatic operational tests, confirming smooth ignition, stable combustion, and reliable steam generation. The boiler is now fully restored and operating safely in both manual and automatic modes, providing the vessel with dependable steam supply and reinforcing our commitment to delivering high‑quality, technically sound marine solutions.
