Steering Gear Starter Panel – Troubleshooting & Operational Restoration

Description

Our team completed troubleshooting and restoration works on the vessel’s Steering Gear Starter Panel after reports of intermittent failures in the steering pump start circuit. Through a detailed inspection of both control and power circuits, the issue was traced to a faulty control relay combined with loose terminal connections — a combination that caused unreliable operation and loss of the remote start command. Identifying the exact failure points allowed for a precise and efficient repair approach.

Corrective actions included replacing the defective relay, re‑terminating all critical wiring, and tightening terminal connections to restore proper electrical continuity. Functional testing was then performed in both local and remote modes, confirming stable relay operation, reliable signal transmission, and full restoration of the steering pump start circuit. With all functions verified, the system was returned to safe and dependable operational condition.
