Riken Keiki RM‑590 Gas Detection System – Calibration & Functional Verification

Description

We successfully completed the full calibration and functional verification of the Riken Keiki RM‑590 Fixed Gas Sampling System onboard. The scope of work included a detailed inspection of the sampling line, operational checks of all pneumatic components, and precise adjustment of the detection channels to ensure accurate and dependable readings under all conditions.

Our team verified the correct operation of pumps, filters, and solenoid valves, confirming stable sampling flow throughout the system. Using certified calibration gases, we performed zero and span adjustments for the O₂, LEL, and H₂S detectors, restoring each channel to optimal measurement accuracy. A final simulation test validated the system’s response, confirming proper alarm activation, signal transmission, and overall functionality.

Maintaining a gas detection system in peak condition is essential for safeguarding the crew and protecting the vessel. A properly calibrated RM‑590 ensures early detection, compliance with safety standards, and reliable prevention against hazardous atmospheres — a critical layer of protection in every marine operation.
