AVR Replacement of Generator – Fault Diagnosis & Commissioning
Description
Our team successfully completed the replacement of a failed Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) on a generator set, following a structured troubleshooting and commissioning process. The intervention began with a detailed diagnostic assessment to identify the root cause of the voltage instability, including wiring checks, signal verification, and inspection of the excitation circuit. Once the defective AVR was confirmed, it was removed and replaced with a new, fully compatible unit.
After installation, the generator underwent a complete configuration and parameter‑adjustment procedure to ensure proper voltage regulation. Fine‑tuning was performed to stabilize output voltage, confirm correct sensing behavior, and verify the AVR’s response under varying operational conditions. All protective settings and control parameters were reviewed to ensure safe and reliable integration with the generator’s electrical system.
To finalize the process, extensive testing was carried out under both no‑load and load conditions. These tests confirmed stable voltage output, correct dynamic response, and overall system reliability. With commissioning successfully completed, the generator is now operating safely, efficiently, and fully restored to dependable service.
